Tyreju Grand Prix: We invite you to help find voices worth hearing!

What is Tyreju Grand Prix? It is like an X-factor competition for young scientists, taking place in Lithuania for the fifth time. It was inspired and organized in Lithuania following a similar competition in Norway by investor and mentor Žaneta Freyer and a team of volunteers. The competition is organized by the Public Institution “Tyreju Grand Prix”. The event is sponsored by the Lietuvos Tūkstantmečio Rotary Klubas, Go Vilnius, Marius Jakulis Jason Foundation, 15min.lt. During the final event of the competition, each of the 10 finalists will present their doctoral thesis in a clear and visual way within 4 minutes. Each presentation will be evaluated by a committee, and at the end of the event, the audience watching the event will vote with their mobile phones for free. In this way, three winners will be selected, who will receive a cash prize and mentoring assistance for the implementation of their idea. The event aims to draw attention to young scientists who can become leaders of startups based on scientific discoveries or innovations that create progress in society.

Who can participate in the competition and how to participate? Tyreju Grand Prix competition is open to both doctoral students of any nationality and citizenship studying in Lithuania, as well as those of Lithuanian origin conducting doctoral thesis work in foreign academic institutions. Those conducting doctoral research submit their application and a video recording of the work presentation by July 20th.

Café stage and preliminary selection. Group training on how to present their doctoral thesis in the preliminary Café stage is organized for the participants of the Tyreju Grand Prix competition who have submitted applications. During this training, all applicants will have 4 minutes to present their thesis. The 10 winners who will participate in the finals will be selected by the Organizing Committee of the Tyreju Grand Prix.

When will the final take place and what is its course? The final of the Tyreju Grand Prix competition will take place this year on Thursday, October 29 at the AC Hotel by Mariott near Lukiškės Square in Vilnius. The 10 finalists will receive individual mentor training in person or remotely.

How the commission works. The Tyreju Grand Prix commission evaluates the presentations of the participants of the final event, which they will see for the first time. The jury will consist of three members: Dr. Urtė Neniškytė, Chairman of the Board of Vienaragiai LT, and Mantas Katinas, Head of Wargaming, Director of LRT Radio Giedrius Masalskis. Everyone has their own sphere of assessment – ​​science, communication, business.

What is the value of the event? Tyreju Grand Prix communicates to the public the importance of knowledge and education for the country’s progress. Young scientists gain valuable personal experience in the competition, they are provided with presentation training. An environment is created for them to realize their ideas, because the audience of the final event includes many investors – business angels, venture and private equity funds, startup founders, and members of the innovation community. A number of finalists have already become participants in business accelerators, founders of companies, heads of well-known companies, and have initiated changes in the public sector.
