On April 23–25, Klaipėda Science and Technology Park will host the DIGI4all Hackathon – a 48-hour innovation marathon focused on creating digital solutions for social inclusion and sustainability.
The event is part of the international INVESTech project, which aims to strengthen innovation, digital skills, and collaboration between education, business, and technology sectors across Europe.
Why does social inclusion matter in the digital world?
Digitalisation is transforming our everyday lives: from public services and education to healthcare, mobility, and energy systems. At the same time, it also creates new challenges: many people still face barriers related to access to technology, digital skills, or the availability of digital services.
This raises an increasingly important question: how can we design technologies that are accessible, useful, and inclusive for everyone?
The goal of the DIGI4all Hackathon is to encourage young innovators to explore answers to this question and develop solutions that:
- help reduce the digital divide
- improve accessibility of services for different groups in society
- strengthen community engagement and resilience
- contribute to building a more sustainable and inclusive society
Youth ideas for real-world challenges
The DIGI4all Hackathon invites young people up to 29 years old – students, early-career professionals, and creators to work in teams and develop the first prototypes of their solutions within 48 hours.
During the event, participants will:
- generate ideas and develop digital solutions
- work in teams of 3–5 participants
- receive guidance from mentors in technology, innovation, and business
- present their solutions to an evaluation panel
The hackathon offers a chance not only to experiment with technology but also to create solutions with actual social impact.
Organisations are also invited to get involved
To ensure that the solutions developed during the hackathon address societal needs, organisations are also encouraged to participate.
Mentors can support teams by helping refine ideas and technological approaches.
Companies and organisations are invited to propose challenges related to social inclusion or the accessibility of digital services.
The hackathon becomes a space where young talent, technology and societal needs come together to brainstorm and create solutions.

The international port technology hackathon returns to Klaipėda on 25–27 September, bringing together innovators, researchers and young professionals to tackle challenges from the maritime sector.
For the eighth consecutive year, the international port technology hackathon Portathon will dock in Klaipėda, this time on 25–27 September 2026. The event invites innovators, researchers and young professionals to tackle real-world challenges facing the maritime sector, forming over 20 multidisciplinary teams guided by experienced mentors from industry and academia. Each year Portathon attracts more than 100 participants; this year, organizers aim to bring together the event’s most active and diverse innovation community yet.
Not just a weekend challenge, but a launchpad for new ventures
Portathon is more than an intensive three-day sprint. For many participants, it becomes a turning point in their professional journey.
“We joined Portathon simply to test our abilities and see whether our knowledge could be useful. In just a few days we received incredibly inspiring feedback from highly experienced mentors. That’s when we realized our solution had actual potential and it eventually led to the creation of our startup,” says team leader Gytis Raudonius, who participated in the hackathon a couple of years ago and who today, together with the same team, develops technological solutions for the port industry through their company, PortMI.
Participants work on actual business challenges submitted by companies operating within the port ecosystem. This year’s edition will place particular emphasis on safety, artificial intelligence and sustainability – themes that are increasingly defining the future of modern ports against the backdrop of today’s geopolitical and defense challenges.
Eight editions strong: connecting science, business and the next generation of innovators
Over eight years, Portathon has grown into one of the most significant platforms connecting the maritime innovation ecosystem, bringing together science, business and technology developers from across Lithuania and beyond. Young technology creators, startup founders and professionals from a wide range of disciplines all find their place here.
This year, the organizing team is joined by the Klaipeda University and the European University Alliance EU-CONEXUS, further deepening ties with the emerging talent community and expanding the event’s international academic reach.
Industry challenges become tomorrow’s technology
“Companies gain something that is often hard to achieve within daily operations: a fresh perspective on long-standing challenges. Multidisciplinary teams bring forward modern, innovative solutions that can be directly integrated into existing projects,” the organizers note.
Portathon also provides participants with an opportunity to build valuable professional connections, meet experts from the maritime sector and become part of a growing international network shaping the future of ports. The in-person format fosters intensive teamwork, mentored problem-solving and the real-time development and testing of new ideas.
Eight editions in, one thing is clear: the maritime sector is rich in challenges and equally rich in people willing to rise to meet them. Portathon remains committed to strengthening the synergy between innovators, industry and science, turning today’s port challenges into tomorrow’s technologies.

On the initiative of the Ministry of Economy and Innovation and the Innovation Agency, InnoHub Lithuania has been officially opened in Silicon Valley (USA), which will help Lithuanian innovative companies and developers of advanced technologies to establish and develop contacts with partners in the USA, as well as help Lithuanian exporters of high-tech products and services to establish a position in the strategically important US market. InnoHub Lithuania joins Nordic Innovation House, which has been successfully operating in the US for almost a decade.
“We have fulfilled another commitment – Lithuania is finally established in Silicon Valley. InnoHub Lithuania will become an important link between Lithuanian and US start-ups and innovators, helping to establish targeted contacts and providing assistance in exporting Lithuanian high value-added products and services to the US,” says Aušrinė Armonaitė, Minister of the Economy and Innovation.
InnoHub Lithuania will provide comprehensive support to Lithuanian high-tech companies, with priority given to companies operating in the fields of information and communication technologies, laser technologies and biotechnology. InnoHub Lithuania will bring together US mentors to advise innovative Lithuanian companies – experts in business development, sales, marketing, business law and finance. They will also organise conferences, exhibitions and business missions to showcase Lithuania’s business potential and innovation ecosystem to US investors. Lithuania’s innovation promotion capacity in California will be strengthened together with the team of the Consulate General of Lithuania and the Commercial Attaché in Los Angeles.
“The world’s leading market, the US, can undoubtedly open up huge opportunities for Lithuanian exports. We have a number of successful examples of cooperation between Lithuanian companies and the US that have led to their rapid growth, so it is very important that this market is accessible to an even greater number of promising high-tech companies. Based on our experience of working with companies, we have identified the main barriers and fears for developing in the US. These include differences in the legal and tax environment and business culture, challenges in finding and establishing targeted business contacts, and intense competition from companies in other countries. InnoHUB Lithuania will offer a comprehensive package of services to help Lithuanian exporters overcome these barriers,” says Romualda Stragienė, head of the Innovation Agency.
InnoHub Lithuania will join the community of the influential Nordic Innovation House in Silicon Valley. This gives Lithuania the opportunity not only to benefit from the Nordic Innovation House’s experience and connections in the US for almost a decade, but also to strengthen cooperation between Lithuania and Scandinavia – to build partnerships with Nordic companies, start-ups, research institutions and agencies promoting entrepreneurship and innovation.
