Business Clusters

Clustering is one of the key priorities of the Lithuanian industry and business development strategy. By creating cooperation and communication networks, as well as by belonging to clusters and cooperating with other companies and scientific institutions which have similar interests, we may solve the productivity and innovation issues of many companies even more efficiently.

Clusters encourage an orientation toward innovations and speed up the rate of their appearance, because the companies have favourable conditions to experiment with smaller prices and do not need to undertake huge commitments when there is not enough assurance that an innovative project will be successful. The importance of the informal exchanges of ideas between the specialists working in the cluster should also be taken into consideration.

Klaipėda Science and Technology Park has coordinated the activities of the Lithuanian Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) cluster, which was established on 8 April 2016, and actively contributes to the formation of the cluster for using geothermal water resources, as well as supporting the cluster for Klaipėda’s passive houses Ecovizija, and other clusters which are operating or are being established in Western Lithuania.

In order to strengthen international cooperation in the field of LNG, in 2017 April 26 Baltic Sea Region LNG Cluster and Baltic Sea Region LNG Competence Center were established.

In order to accelerate the development of the maritime innovation ecosystem, in 2020 June 30 The Lithuanian Maritime Cluster – a platform for cooperation and the creation of high added value products and services – was established in Klaipėda.

The activities of the maritime cluster are coordinated by the Klaipėda Science and Technology Park. The cluster community is consistently expanded by including maritime science and study centers, representatives of shipbuilding and repair, marine energy and other sectors, strengthening relations with partners in foreign countries.

If you want to connect to the clusters that are already operating, or wish to establish a new business and science cooperation platform, we will try to answer all of the questions that you may have and provide you with the necessary help.
