ng companies are increasingly using systems that rely on digitalisation\,
integration\, and automation. As technology continues to develop\, informa
tion technology (IT) and operational technology (OT) onboard ships are bei
ng networked together – and more frequently connected to the internet. L
ogistic chains are now only rely on data driven systems and are fully depe
ndent on the secure operations. So far the shipping managed to stay aside
from a mass scale of cyber security related breaches\, that has become com
mon for land based industries\, however few latest cases\, such as Maersk
case related to NotPetya ransomware/wiper in 2017\, or rather recent Medit
erranean Shipping Company\, in April 2020 their data center operations wer
e down for one day due to an unnamed malware strain. Those cases ring the
bell for the whole industry to take actions to tackle the risks and ensure
that the sufficient preventive measures are provided and effective.\n&nbs
p\;\nThe cybersecurity in maritime has been on the agenda for rather few y
ears already. The International Maritime Organization (IMO) took initiativ
e and upon substantial efforts finally in 2017 adopted resolution MSC.428(
 98) on Maritime Cyber Risk Management in Safety Management System (SMS). T
he Resolution called shipping to address the cyber risk management in the
company management systems in a formal way. IMO\, as well as other industr
y recognised organisations developed a number of publications to assist th
e shipping with best practices\, guidelines and recommendations. To cope w
ith the systematics and complexity\, the shipping has to focus on the buil
ding knowledge and awareness\, starting from top management\, following to
the shipboard operations\, that are taken care by crew. We aim to contrib
ute towards building the industry understanding and growing awareness on t
he matter.\n&nbsp\;\nIn our workshop\, we will address the following:\n\nu
nderstanding of a relevance of the challenge for maritime industry\ncybers
ecurity terminology for maritime\noverall cybersecurity related regulatory
framework\, such as formal regulations and standards\ntypes of typical th
reats and attackers\nbasics of cyber-attack detection\nbasics on handling
 of cyber-attack\nproactive measures\, prevention\, risk management\n\n[/et
