Business and scientific organizations are joining forces in developing the marine innovation ecosystem in the country – for this purpose, in 2020 June 30 The Lithuanian maritime cluster was established in Klaipėda. It aims to become a platform for the development of high value-added products and services.
The establishment of the cluster was initiated by the start of Lithuanian liquefied gas (LNG) cluster activities in 2016, which brought together 17 partners – Lithuanian and international business organizations, scientific institutions.
The maritime cluster community will be consistently expanded by including even more representatives of port companies, shipbuilding and repair, marine energy sectors, as well as by strengthening relations with partners in foreign countries.
Main sectors of the cluster:
- Alternative fuel infrastructure and technologies (LNG, biogas, hydrogen, ammonia)
- Port and cargo
- Shipbuilding, repair, marine energy
Range of activities: Initiation of innovative technological projects ︱ Development of high added value products/services ︱ Development of research infrastructure ︱ Development of startup ecosystem ︱ Inter-organizational networking ︱ Concentration/attraction of resources ︱ Development of capabilities/competencies (international Blue Growth Leaders Academy program and other initiatives) ︱ Advanced solutions / project publicity ︱
